The solution for wrinkle-free wedding and evening dresses

Wedding dresses or evening gowns are not easy to iron, as they are made from many different fabrics that are not always easy to handle. In this blog, you will learn how to properly iron dresses.

Which iron is best suited?

We recommend using steam irons or steam stations. Unlike traditional irons, these are particularly suitable for delicate materials such as satin, tulle, or lace. Additionally, they are much easier to handle and offer more safety against burn marks.

When ironing with steam irons or steam stations, the dress is not subjected to high temperatures as with a conventional iron. This minimizes the risk of damage or burn marks.

However, one should note that you should not iron on the same spot for too long.

Advantages of a steam station:

  • More powerful steam performance
  • Consistent steam output
  • Stronger steam burst
  • Gentle on the hands, as the water tank is separate
  • Large water tank
  • Usable for all types of fabrics
  • Ideal for larger quantities
  • Perfect for home use

Disadvantages of a steam station:

  • More expensive than portable steamers
  • Not ideal for on-the-go

Advantages of a steam iron:

  • Suitable for all fabrics
  • Particularly handy and easy to use
  • Accessories available (varies by model)
  • Ideal for travel
  • Perfect for trips
  • Lower purchase costs

Disadvantages compared to the steam station:

  • Lower steam performance
  • Variable steam output
  • More prone to dripping with too much steam
  • Water tank is not separate
  • Smaller water tank

How to iron evening dresses?

Please ensure that the device is descaled and cleaned before ironing. There should also be no water droplets on the iron.

After filling the water tank, the steam iron needs a few minutes to reach the right temperature. Once the temperature is reached, you can get started.

Hang the dress on a freestanding clothes rack, curtain, or door.

Always move the steam iron from the inside out over the wedding/evening dress. The hot steam coming from the nozzles moistens the fabric for a brief moment, allowing wrinkles to be quickly and easily removed. Additionally, ironing with steam removes bacteria and odors that may be present on the dress. However, one should be careful not to iron on the same spot for too long to avoid high temperatures and thus the risk of damage.

IMPORTANT! Only iron from the inside out to avoid damaging the shine of materials like satin.
